Dear Daddy, Mother, and Sandy,
It is now 9:20 PM and I have to shine my brass, shoes, study Algebra and English and write this so they may be a few mistakes since I have to do this before 10:45. Tuesday morning when we got up it was very warm but during the day, the temp. Dropped 25 [degrees]. So that night we changed into wools and they feel mighty good. I went to wrestling practice that afternoon. After supper studied. Wednesday did the same old thing, but that afternoon I had my first wrestling match. It went 3 rounds of one minute each. I fought an upperclassman who weighed 10 lbs more than I did. For we weighed before the match. I beat him 4-2. That night we had early supper and choir practice. Studied that night.
[Page 2]
Today all we did was mess around as usual. Same old routine except this afternoon from 5-6 we practiced for the VMI Game.
In the way of letters I got one yesterday full of clippings and one today containing two dollars (??). Also today I got one from Annette who told me all about the little things around the town and Grady.
I guess that’s all. I wish you were coming this weekend, but I don’t guess it would be good too since I might see you at least on Thanksgiving if not sooner? ?? (Don’t you wish you knew what I am talking about - suspense Ha! Ha!) Write later about it long story. Keep in the peak of condition for me when I come home. The duty of the 4th classmen is to feed the upper classmen in the messhall. My mess carver says if it wasn’t for that they (all the boys at my table) would starve except me. Eat more, Mother. It’ll make a man out of you.
With lots of love,
Jimmy
I am in a good humor, tonight.
