Dearest,

Has anyone ever told you that you are the finest there is? If not, please allow me to be the first. Don’t ask me to give you any special reason right now but from your letters I have come to the conclusion I’m the luckiest guy I know.

It seems as if God doesn’t want me to find anything good about this place. Its one really fine feature used to be the warm weather. It has gotten so cold in the last two days that we have been wearing overcoats. Those Yankee cold waves are not appreciated down here. You should hear these rebels swear about them.

When I heard what Bob was going to do I was very disappointed. Going to school is a fine idea but I don’t like his choice. Why in the devil doesn’t he put his nose to the grindstone and get some nice position at his fathers place. Surely there is room in an organization like that for a son. If I know Bob he’ll never finish that school and it will be time wasted. More important - take courses

somewhere to finish high school and get his diploma. If my memory serves me correct he doesn’t own one. I really like him and would like to see him do well so please see if you or better yet Joyce can’t get him to really get hold of himself and start to put himself together. At the rate he’s going, he’ll be a bigger bum than I will, and that’s bad.

I was very glad to hear your cold is better. Please hurry up and get rid of it and don’t bother with any more of them. Leave them for others.

Your description of Washington really sounds good. Someday you’ll have to take me all around the place. I do hope you have the opertunity [sic] real soon.

How was Death of a Salesman? From the reports I’ve heard it was really a fine show and you should have enjoyed it.

Honey, I’m truly sorry I haven’t written more often than I have and I do promise to do better in the future. Your wonderful letters have been arriving so regularly that it is really a dream come true. It will not be long before I’ll be at least matching you, maybe I’ll do better. I miss you an awful lot, sweets, and love you as much as any could. Please be good and stay well.

All my love,
Arty
