Dear Launtie;
I received your welcome letter this eve, and was sorry to hear that Pa has finished his job already but sincerely hope that he will soon get another place. Our examination commences on Monday, I fear the consequences, almost wish that I shall fail so I will have to leave the academy; if I stay I shall not return next October, for I will get a job during my holidays I will not give it up. I am to go to Church with Jack tomorrow afternoon. I hardly think that he likes
[Page 2]
city life very much, there are so few boys home now that I guess W. is very dull and tiresome. I went round to the museum this aft. for the first in my life, and saw some strange sights, it would take a whole day to see all one wishes to see and understand there, from a bumble-bee to a whale and buffalo. I put another piece in the press for Mr. Elbusar benefit, he tells me that he is ready for the war and will fight for victory. I shall try to give him [illegible words]. How was Aunt Sallie when you heard from her last, I have so little time that I can not write her.
I must now close for there is nothing to tell you just the “same old story”
[Page 3]
I remain with love from to all and kisses for Mack, Your fond Bro.
