Dear Ma,
I received a letter the first part of this week, and was glad to hear from home. I got a merit on my room today, the 3rd this year. The Supt. had a photo taken of the Batallion [sic] this morning while at inspection, I want to try and get one of them if there are any to spare. Aunt Sallie sent me a note this morning saying, she would not have until Tuesday, I shall

try and see her again (if I can) before she goes. I have not been able to see Aunt Annie yet, but will try and call and see her as soon as possible; I do not have much time “these days”[.] How is little Mack getting on; kiss him for me. You asked me about the fare I am compelled to say that: it is the same as it ever was (this year) and ever will be. Work has been commenced on the “West Wing”, when finished it will be quite an improvement on the old S.C.M.A., I must now close with Love for all
