Dear Col.

About a month ago just when you were in all your trouble at the Citadel (of which I knew nothing until later) I wrote you enclosing letter to the President.

I have been hoping ever since to hear favorably from you in reply, but as I could hear nothing thought I had better write and ask if you ever received such a letter.

I read with pride Col. the acct of your offering the remaining

faithful boys at the Academy to the service of the State and I [illegible] wish I was back [illegible words] of there again.

The Co to which I belong, The Ocala Rifles, expect to be ordered out Tuesday, we are 55 strong both well affixed and disciplined, in fact all of the Fla Troops are in good condition.

Hoping soon to hear from you, Col. I remain
Very Respectfully
E. L. McIntosh
