Dear Mother, Daddy, & Sandy,
A week from today I will a makin’ my way home. This letter has got to be a “quickie”
Since I wrote you Tuesday all we have been doing is practicing and studying whenever we have time.
Wednesday night we practiced in the auditorium and Thursday night in Memminger High School auditorium and where we held the concert.
Last night we played the concert. We showed all these Charlestonians we had something besides a marching band.
This morning we had an [word crossed out] entire corps picture. It will cost $1.50. They make every other year it should be very nice to have. We had another picture taken for the yearbook this morning.
At 2:00 this afternoon we leave for Florence. It’s 110 miles from here so that it will take a little time to get there.
This morning I got your check. I don’t see how I can get any better with my money. I haven’t seen a show for about 3 weeks. We just have to get our clothes cleaned so often
[Page 2]
and buy cleaning stuff.
I don’t have a cold now. My eye hasn’t bother me a bit since I left the hospital.
I also got a letter Thursday.
Religious Emphasis week starts tomorrow. We have lots of meetings and such. The teachers are supposed to easy up on the work during this time.
I got a letter from Hilton yesterday. He said Bobby is in Calif. With some friends and that he is just sitting around till March 1st when his father opens their new drug store on Piedmont Rd. He has been accepted at Emory and the coach at Davidson wrote him to come up and talk to him about a football schorship [sic].
I better stop now and get ready.
With lots of love,
Jimmy
P.S. The concert was really good. I wish you could have been there.
