My Darling,
Today is the first day of April and also Easter Sunday and I was lucky enough to have the day off so that I could spend it with Mama. Would have called your folks to go home with me but didn’t have enough notice and was afraid that Mama had accepted an invitation to Grandmother or somewhere. As it was we did have an invitation to go there but we didn’t and went to Sunday School instead. Couldn’t stay for preaching services as we still don’t have a preacher at our church. Seems that I always miss the Sundays that we have services. Some guests came in this afternoon as Mom and I were trying to take a nap. She was pretty tired and

sleepy as she’d gotten up early and gone to Sunrise Services at another church. Certainly did enjoy my day at home even if I did have to stand all the way to Columbia on the bus tonight. I’m about to get used to things like that. Brought some fried chicken back with me. Wish that I could give you some. Mama sends love to you. She’s very anxious for you and Jake to see each other.
Thought surely that I’d have some mail from you tonight when I came in but still none. I have an awful, empty feeling when I find an empty mail box [sic]. Hope to get a letter or several tomorrow.
I’ll stop now because I have to go to work at seven in the morning. Take care of yourself for me.
I’ll love you, always -
All my love,
