Dear Folks,
Have finished up registering and have just about finished cleaning up the room with the exception of mopping the floor.
To start a beginning, we had a good trip until we got to Aiken where the carburetor got clogged up. It was about 7PM and that made it hard to get somebody to fix it. We lost about an 1 ½ hr. We made it back to school by 11PM.
When I got here I really had a shock, the school has fixed up our room and the one next to it in the way they want the rest of the rooms to look. It has 2 6ft. [foot] fluorescent lights, 2-tone green pastel walls, and a nice brown press. It is a real change, but the mess they left. I has taken us all day

to fix it up, but it so nice I just can’t believe it. The room has lost its appearance of a prison cell.
We also found out today that the band and drill platoon are going to Washington to the inaugeration [sic] on Jan. 20th as S.C.’s delegation. The only thing we have to do is find enough overcoats for us all. It should be some fun. Not too much detail now.
Now comes the reason for writing so soon. I left something - all my applications for grad. school. They are in the bottom drawer of my chest of drawers in the manila lab folder marked Applications. Since you are sending some stuff please send me the picture of Betty Anne I left it in the long small drawer where I keep my socks - for personal reasons. Thank you.
Lots of changes in the schedule around here - as we are going to have a longer ESP, can put our beds down at 9:30, eat supper at 6:00, etc. That’s it.
Lots of love,
Jim
