Description
This collection features photographs of select artifacts from The Citadel Museum, which represents the history of The Military College of South Carolina from its founding in 1842 to the present.
Designed by Lt. Col. John W. Lang, this insignia design was used by The Citadel from 1933 to 1937. The star represents the Star of the West, the ship that Citadel cadets fired upon at the beginning of the Civil War. The phoenix represents The Citadel's reopening in 1882.
