Monday nite [sic]
Dear Sis,
College is O.K. except for the book work. I like everything down here but as in high school I still don’t like to study. I am carrying about 21 hrs. a week. Out of the six subjects I have I have had a test in every one except one.
I am supposed to be writing a “rat letter” for the upper classman who lives next door. If I can I am not going to write it. I long for the day when I can be an upper-classman. They seem to live such an easy life.
I’m glad you like your job. Please write me more about it. Did you get my card?
When you see mother tell her to send me something to eat. The mess hall is fine but a little food before taps sure is good. Tell her to be sure and mail it Saturday or Sunday so I won’t get pulled for having food in the room at Sat. morning inspection.
I have had a few leaves and been out to folly beach. It’s a pretty sorry beach but I like to go there because I

Can get out of uniform and into a bathing suit. Charleston is one hole. I hope they have new pictures at the movies this week and as I have seen every one in them.
Sunday morning I went sailing. We sailed up down the Ashley and all over Charleston Harbor. It was really fun but I got sun burned.
Well it’s time for tattoo so I had better close. Please write me. We
