Hat brass, Lang design, 1933-1937

Description

Designed by Lt. Col. John W. Lang, this design was used by The Citadel from 1933 to 1937. The star represents the Star of the West, the ship that Citadel cadets fired upon at the beginning of the Civil War. The phoenix represents The Citadel's reopening in 1882.
