Dear mother and Dad,

As you’ve probably noticed, I haven’t been able to grab off any time to write in the past few days, so this is the first letter in that time. Hope Dad had a pleasing time at CMS, if it wasn’t too cold. Hope Mom had a nice visit at the Cody’s.

Dad wanted a schedule of a typical day at the citadel so here goes:

Monday through Thursday:
0645 - First Call
0650 - Reveille
0655 - Mess Call
0700 - Breakfast
0735-0750 - Room Cleanup
0750 - Class Call
0800 - 1st class
0900 - 2nd “
1000 - 3rd “
1100 - 4th class
1200 - Drill which is 5th class for everyone

Friday same as above except that drill takes place at 1600 (4pm) and leave starts at 1700 (5pm).

Got an A+ on my first theme, teacher said it was the first freshman theme handed to him. No kiddin’!

My hand is shaking and I just can’t seem to write, so I’ll sign off here.

Love
Phil.

P.S. Sunday, 21st October is Jane’s birthday. Send her a dozen roses for me from [illegible word] or [illegible word]. I’m enclosing in a separate envelope something to go with them.
