Señor:
Sin ninguna de sus gratas cartas á que referirme, tengo el gusto de incluirle el check número 3956 á su órden y á cargo del New York Produce Bank, de New-York, ascendente á $150.00 Currency, que conforme al Reglamento de esa Academia debo pagar el dia 1 de Enero próximo, por sostenimiento é instruccion [sic] de mis hermanos Francisco y José Alba y Gomez de la Maza, que como Cadetes de Paga figuran en su Institucion.
Deseándole un feliz y próspero año nuevo, me es grato repetirme á sus órdenes atentamente

Without one of your pleasant letters that I refer to, I have the pleasure of including for you check number 3956 at your control and charge of New York Produce Bank of New-York, upwards of $150.00 Currency, which according to the Rules of the Academy I must pay on the coming January 1st to continue the education of my brothers Francisco and José Alba y Gomez de la Maza, as Paid Cadetes that figure in this Institution.
Wishing you a happy and prosperous new year, I am pleased to repeat that I am at your service
