Hi Honey,

I really got quite a kick out of your last letter. I enjoyed every word and I must say that you have been wonderful so far with the mail.

In your letter you said that what you have is mine. Honey, that is the most wonderful thing anyone has ever said to me. I will remember those words for an awful long time and do hope I can live up to the trust and faith you must have in me to say something like that. I must also add that the reverse has held true for some time now I have tried to live up to it and shall continue to do so.

Unfortunately I do not know how long I will have a chance to live up to the above. You see, honey, my money is running low and I don’t see any light in the near future. The only thing I

have to try and take its place is my love and all of that. I do hope you can see clear to accept my love and then maybe in the not too far distant future I can bring you money along with it. Only time will tell the real story but how about waiting with me?

I really can’t tell you anything about my date yet as it doesn’t take place until Saturday night. I guess I was not very clear in explaining how and why I am dating her. First of all she is the nicest girl I have met in Charleston but she still doesn’t come anywhere near comparing with you. Now, she has been dating this cadet and he is really crazy about her. She doesn’t care one way or the other. He knows of you and how I feel toward you so he is not worried about my stealing her. Then by my dating her she will either go back to him and meet his affections or it might happen she could fall for me. In that case she gets the same treatment [illegible] is getting now. It will even the score up no matter what happens. I do hope you understand now.

I reread the part of your letter telling me about your sore throat. Which date had a cold and gave it to you? At any rate you had better get rid of it real quick as I don’t love

girls when they are sick. I realize that it doesn’t make any difference to you weather [sic] or not I love you but it makes a whale of difference to me so please let me write it if I want to.

I do hope and have been keeping my fingers crossed that you made good good grades on your exams. Remember, honey, I’m no student and I have been getting fairly good grades so you should certainly do well. Keep plugging and the light of day will shine through.

Please give my best to the gang and remember to be good, study hard, and remember I love you and miss you very much.

All my love,
Arty
