Sunday

To the sweetest gal in the world,

Your two letters have really been out of this world. I am only sorry I have not placed at least that many in the mail box myself.

Honey, when I say those letters have been wonderful I really me [sic]. For the first time since I can remember the letters seem as if you really wanted to write them and not as if you wrote because you felt you had to.

In your letter you said you were sorry you acted the way to [sic] did Sunday night. I don’t ever want you to be sorry for a thing like that. Your acting the way you did does more for me than you could

[Page 2]

possibly realize. Sure it makes it harder for me on that night but it sures makes the next three months easier. I don’t ever want you to be sorry for your actions when you haven’t done anything wrong and just acted yourself. I love you because you do what you do and are what you are. If you don’t act sentimental at times and other way at other time you would not be the Florence I love. Please remember that and act accordingly.

I am happy to say I have finally gotten settled and everything is running along smoothly. There has been quite a bit of work but that I expected.

I have been placed in charge of the [illegible] softball team in our company.

[Page 3]

I am happy to say we won our first game today 12 to 9. All the boys played very well considering we have not had much practice. I do hope and really think we can go undefeated.

I got a kick out of your letters where you asked if you should come and visit me. You may think I’m fooling but I mean it when I say I would be more than happy to have you and now I’ll be kind of disappointed if you don’t come. After all, it isn’t fair to tease me about something like that.

This quarter I have some very interesting subjects subjects [sic]. I like them but you ought to try them sometime.

[Page 4]

They are as follows: 1. Accounting 2. Insurance 3. Labor 4. French 5. Military. The first three are the ones I really care about and as a result devote most of my time to them. In the others I just coast along and hope for the best. So far I have lucky [sic] and thank God I only have to be lucky two more times. Then I’ll be through with French and nobody fails senior military. They tell me it just doesn’t happen.

I am glad you mentioned that the boys told you I promised to write them. I have Bob’s address but I forgot to look Eddie’s up in the phonebook before I left. Do you think you could find out for me? Thanks a lot, honey!

[Page 5]

I am trying very hard to keep out of trouble this quarter in one respect anyway. I am making sure I answer all questions asked in your letters. If my letters seem a little happy please understand.

The reason I wrote that is that I didn’t quite know how to change the subject from Eddie’s address to the fact that time really flies when we are together. Honey, when I am with you time doesn’t even come into the question. I’ve told you that. I want to be with you for an awfully long time but somehow when we get together I say hello and before you can turn around I am saying goodnight. A few times it is goodnight and then it is goodbye for a while. I really can’t keep

[Page 6]

track of the days when we are going out. One day melts into the next and then I’ve melted out of the picture. Someday I hope the time will come when we can go out on a date that will last forever but, unfortunately, that date is still a few jumps ahead. (I have my eye on it though.) I had better quit or I’ll have you getting all upset and I will not be there to offer a shoulder so that’s all on this subject for now.

You mentioned that you are going to practice bowling now. I think it is a wonderful idea. There is only one suggestion I have to make. You might inquire around and see if you can get some instruction (professional). The few dollars spent will be more than

returned in the future. Fun alone will make up for it in no time as you enjoy anything more when you can do it right. I want you to enjoy yourself as I really got a kick out of the evening we went bowling and I’d love to do it again soon.

I just looked back at some of the stuff I just wrote and I wondered if I was writing a book or a letter. For some reason you are the only person I can sit and write and enjoy doing it. I sit here and read and reread your letters and then the thoughts that are mulling over in my mind become words in black and white. Please forgive me for writing so much, but I wanted

[Page 8]

to tell you all these things.

Please be good and study hard because you can really do well if you want to. You’ll make your folks and myself very proud if you do well. Please think of me once and a while and when you do remember I love you ever so much and miss you just as much.

All my love,
Arty

P.S. Please give my best to the family, Eddie, Joyce, Bob, Janice and Ben.
