Description

The Colonel Christopher Schultz Gadsden Memorial Award was first awarded in 1976. From the 1975-1976 Guidon:
  • In memory of Colonel Gadsden, Class of 1852.
  • Given annually to the “best all-round civil engineering graduate” as selected by the civil engineering faculty.
Besides being a member of the Class of 1852, Gadsden was also a member of the Board of Visitors from 1886-1898 and served as Chairman from 1898 until his death in 1915.

The gold medal is round and the obverse is embossed with a branch of leaves and engraved with "Colonel Christopher Schultz Gadsden Award." It is suspended from a red, white and blue ribbon.
