Oct. 12 1889
Dear Launtie:-
I received your welcome letter last sunday, and Pa’s today. I had a pretty rough time of it last week in drilling, as I had to be so particular in my new office; also in lessons they are very hard now. Analytic Geometry is as hard as the diamond, and it is said just as valua-

ble. I got a credit on my room today. I shall give Aunt Lillie Pa’s message if I see her tomorrow. We have a large school here now, 175 boys I think. Ct. Bamberg, one of my room-mates is a fine fellow, plenty of money, yet is not stuck up. We went to the Baptist Church last Sunday and saw quite a number of persons baptized, gentleman no.1 laughed at no.2, and had the whole congregation laughing

one young lady laughed as she was pushed under and nearly downed herself. I must now close with much love to all - kiss Mack for me. I remain
