Dear Pa
I received the nice box you sent, also money and letter with many thanks. I hope you all had a fine Xmas. I had a very poor time dined with Aunt Lillie, and had a good dinner that was about all. Many thanks for the paper Ma sent and for the knife you sent. I have not been in the mess hall but once or twice this week, went to boxes. Another one of the boys got an honorable discharge today Ct. Rutledge, 1st Corp. in school. Uncles Alex and Launtie told me to ask you about the gun, you said you would send it down as they wanted it Xmas. I wish you all a very merry New Year.
[Page 2]
You must excuse a short note but as I had late leave last night (1:30 o’clock) and had to go on guard at a quarter to 4, and stay until Reveille I am very sleepy and will be compelled to close,
I remain your affect.
Son
Ossie
Love to all. Kiss Mack.
